AceShowbiz - Peacock is moving forward with a scripted drama inspired by the infamous Gilgo Beach Murders case, one of the most chilling serial killer investigations in recent history.
The NBCUniversal streaming service is collaborating with Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson and writer Jordan Hawley to develop this new series. Production is a joint effort between Universal Studio Group's UCP and Jackson’s G-Unit Film and Television. The project draws from the docuseries The Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secrets, which Jackson executive produced and which premiered on Peacock last year.
Originally released as a three-episode series, a fourth episode was added on April 23, shortly after Rex Heuermann, 62, admitted guilt in the murders of eight women whose bodies were found along Gilgo Beach on Long Island.
Jordan Hawley, known for his work on A Million Little Things and Netflix’s Sex/Life, is handling the scriptwriting and will serve as executive producer alongside 50 Cent.
The forthcoming series is described as follows: “For 30 years, the Long Island serial killer operated under the radar in suburban shadows, eluding law enforcement by maintaining an inconspicuous double life. When detectives finally solve the case, the killer’s wife and children are forced to grapple with the horrific truth about the man they believed they knew. Inspired by the Emmy Award-nominated docuseries, this drama chronicles the decades-long manhunt and the devastating impact on the family left behind.”
The Gilgo Beach murders, also referred to as the Long Island serial killings, have captured significant true-crime attention over the years. Beyond The Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secrets, the case has been explored in several other documentaries and news programs.
Netflix released the Liz Garbus-directed docuseries Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer in 2025, while CBS’ 48 Hours and NBC’s Dateline have dedicated episodes to the investigation. Additionally, Investigation Discovery launched a seven-part podcast titled Unraveled: The Long Island Serial Killer in 2021. Garbus also directed the 2020 Netflix film Lost Girls, adapted from a 2013 book about the murders.
Alongside The Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secrets, 50 Cent has executive produced Peacock’s docuseries TikTok Star Murders and is working on a scripted adaptation of his novel The Accomplice, with Taraji P. Henson attached to star.
Industry outlet Variety was the first to report the development of the Gilgo Beach drama series for Peacock.
