Kacey Musgraves teams up with The Mariachi Brothers, a young Texas trio recently detained by ICE, for three special album release shows at Gruene Hall in May.

AceShowbiz - Kacey Musgraves is set to collaborate with young Texas musicians, The Mariachi Brothers, for a series of album release performances this May. The country artist announced on April 28 that the trio, who were detained by ICE earlier this year, will join her at Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, Texas.
The concerts are scheduled for May 3, 4, and 5, shortly after Musgraves' new album Middle of Nowhere is released. The announcement came through an Instagram post featuring a poster that reads, "Kacey Musgraves ... with special guests The Mariachi Brothers."
The featured mariachi musicians are the brothers Antonio, Caleb, and Joshua Gámez-Cuéllar, residents of McAllen, Texas. Their parents, Gámez Martínez and Emma Guadalupe Cuéllar López, along with the children, were detained by ICE for approximately two weeks before being released in March. Their detention sparked public concern amid the Trump administration's intensified immigration enforcement, which included widespread deportations and raids nationwide.
Antonio Gámez-Cuéllar, the eldest at 18, is an award-winning mariachi trumpeter. His younger brothers, Caleb (14) and Joshua (12), also perform alongside him. The siblings previously played at Capitol Hill last year at the invitation of Republican Representative Monica De La Cruz. Despite her support for the Trump administration’s immigration policies, De La Cruz called for the release of the family following their detention, emphasizing their status as "valued members of the community."
Kacey Musgraves has been among the musicians who have publicly criticized ICE. In June 2025, she expressed her opposition on X, stating, "If protesters can't wear masks ICE shouldn't be able to either."
The upcoming album Middle of Nowhere marks Musgraves' sixth studio project, following 2024’s Deeper Well, which reached number two on the Billboard 200 chart. The new release features collaborations with country icons Miranda Lambert and Willie Nelson. So far, the public has been introduced to two tracks: the lead single "Dry Spell" and the album’s title song.
The collaboration with The Mariachi Brothers for the album release shows highlights both the musical talent of the young siblings and Musgraves' commitment to supporting artists affected by immigration enforcement policies. Fans looking forward to the performances can expect a blend of country and traditional mariachi sounds at the historic Gruene Hall venue.
