AceShowbiz - Kacey Musgraves delivered a memorable performance of her song "Dry Spell" at the 61st Academy of Country Music Awards on May 17, 2026, held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Drawing inspiration from the visuals of the track's music video, which is part of her recently released album Middle of Nowhere (arriving March 11), Musgraves recreated the song’s vibe onstage with a fresh and lively twist suited to the awards ceremony’s atmosphere. Unlike the video’s casual look featuring an oversized camo hoodie, black gym shorts, white socks, and slides, she opted for a white tank top, Daisy Duke shorts, and strappy silver heels for her first-ever ACM Awards performance.
The stage was transformed into a grocery-store setting, where Musgraves sang with a playful yet earnest tone: "For a late-night call, for a real good time / Ain't no new notches on my belt / And I'm tired of keeping my hands to myself," as she moved around the set. The lyrics continued, "911, it's officially a cry for help / Y'all, I'm going through a dry spell, yep."
“Dry Spell” has reached No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking one of eight songs by Musgraves to chart on the all-genre tally so far. Although she was not nominated for an ACM Award this year, her prior accolades include winning Album of the Year in 2019 for Golden Hour, which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and remained on the chart for 94 weeks.
Hosting the 2026 ACM Awards was Shania Twain, marking her first time as the show’s emcee. The event was produced by Dick Clark Productions, owned by Penske Media Eldridge, a joint venture involving Eldridge Industries and Billboard’s parent company Penske Media.
Musgraves’ performance stood out as a creative highlight of the evening, blending the suggestiveness of her original music video with a polished and energetic live presentation suitable for the ceremony’s wide audience.
