AceShowbiz - The first recipients for the 2026 Nordoff and Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards have been revealed, featuring notable artists Lily Allen, Sam Fender, Ludovico Einaudi, and Max Richter. This prestigious event, which supports music therapy, will mark its 50th anniversary with a ceremony at London's Royal Albert Hall on July 9, 2026.
Established as the largest annual fundraising initiative for Nordoff and Robbins, a U.K.-based music therapy charity, the O2 Silver Clef Awards have a history of honoring outstanding musical talent while raising significant funds. Since its beginning, the awards have raised £17 million (approximately $22 million) to aid the charity’s work and have previously recognized legends such as David Bowie, George Michael, Ed Sheeran, Oasis, and Paul McCartney.
Lily Allen will be presented with the icon award, following the success of her comeback album West End Girl. The album earned a nomination for best album at the 2026 BRIT Awards, and Allen has recently embarked on a U.K.-wide theatre tour to celebrate its release. Reflecting on the honor, she said, "I'm honoured to receive the icon award at the O2 Silver Clef Awards, especially as it marks their 50th anniversary. Music therapy is such an essential resource and I'm proud to support something that has such a profound impact on people's lives."
Sam Fender will be awarded the best live act prize. In 2025, he headlined multiple stadium shows across the U.K., including a remarkable performance at London Stadium with an audience of 82,000. His third album, People Watching, secured the Mercury Prize in 2025. Additionally, in February, Fender received two BRIT Awards for best rock/alternative act and song of the year for "Rein Me In," a collaboration with Olivia Dean.
Italian pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi will receive the innovation in music award in recognition of his extensive 30-year career. Following the awards ceremony, he is scheduled to perform two concerts at London's O2 Arena on July 10 and 11, 2026.
Max Richter is set to be honored with the contemporary music award. His recent acclaim includes an Academy Award nomination for the score of Chloé Zhao’s adaptation of Hamnet, starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal.
Sandra Schembri, chief executive of Nordoff and Robbins, expressed her enthusiasm about the awards, stating, "It is a real honour to have such an eclectic mix of talented artists receiving O2 Silver Clef Awards in this special anniversary year. Right now, with rising costs and a difficult fundraising landscape, the O2 Silver Clef Awards are more important than ever for us."
She added, "Through the support of these amazing artists and our music industry peers, we can keep raising awareness of our mission and hope to raise as much money as possible, helping us continue training music therapists and supporting people through music therapy. We look forward to seeing you all at the Royal Albert Hall this July."
The 2026 O2 Silver Clef Awards ceremony promises to be a significant event, both celebrating musical achievements and supporting the vital work of music therapy. With a lineup of distinguished recipients and live performances, the event will highlight the ongoing impact of music on wellbeing and community.
