AceShowbiz - Olivia Rodrigo has soared to the top of the ARIA Singles Chart with her latest release, "Drop Dead," marking another milestone in her flourishing career. The track debuted at No. 1, fueled by the release of two music videos and a standout live performance at Coachella on April 18, where she appeared as a surprise guest during Addison Rae's set.
"Drop Dead" serves as the lead single from Rodrigo's upcoming third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, which is scheduled for release on June 12. This achievement gives the U.S. pop star her fourth No. 1 single in Australia, following the success of previous chart-toppers "Drivers Licence," which held the top spot for six weeks in 2021, "Good 4 U," leading for five weeks in 2021, and "Vampire," which claimed No. 1 for one week in 2023.
Rodrigo dethroned Olivia Dean, who had maintained a strong presence on the ARIA Singles Chart for months. Dean's songs "Man I Need" and "Reign Me In," the latter a collaboration with Sam Fender, now occupy the No. 2 and No. 3 positions respectively on the chart released on April 24.
Besides Rodrigo, another notable new entry in the ARIA Top 40 is Justin Bieber. With headline performances across both weekends of Coachella, Bieber's "Speed Demon" debuted at No. 39. His former No. 1 hit "Daisies" climbed from No. 10 to No. 4, while "Beauty And a Beat," featuring Nicki Minaj, reentered the chart at its peak position of No. 5. Additionally, Bieber's track "Yukon" rose from No. 23 to No. 18, demonstrating his continued popularity.
While Rodrigo captured the singles chart crown, Olivia Dean remains dominant on the ARIA Albums Chart. Her album The Art of Loving has claimed its 13th non-consecutive week at No. 1, the longest run for an English singer since Ed Sheeran's ÷ (divide) held the top spot for 27 weeks during 2017-18.
The albums chart also welcomed new entries from several Australian artists. Sydney singer-songwriter Matt Corby debuted at No. 3 with his fourth full-length album, Tragic Magic (Island/Universal), marking the highest new album debut of the week. Corby is a three-time ARIA Award winner with multiple top 10 albums, including a No. 1 in 2016 with Telluric.
Western Australia's indie band Spacey Jane entered at No. 30 with Live At The Hordern Pavilion (AWAL), marking their fifth appearance in the ARIA Top 50. Other notable new entries include Charley, who debuted at No. 23 with her first album The Chronicles Of A Serial Idealist (EMI); Australian Idol 2026 winner Kesha Oayda, who entered at No. 31 with The Idol Collection (Orchard); and Hermitude, the Australian Music Prize-winning duo, whose eighth studio album Eight (ELT) debuted at No. 39.
This week’s ARIA charts highlight the vibrant diversity of both international and homegrown talent, with Olivia Rodrigo leading the charge in singles and Australian artists making significant strides on the albums front. Fans eagerly await her new album release in June, anticipating further chart success.
