Justin Bieber's 12-year-old album 'Journals' re-enters Billboard 200 after his 2026 Coachella headline sets sparked a massive 192% streaming surge.

AceShowbiz - Justin Bieber saw a remarkable resurgence on the Billboard 200 chart after more than a decade since the release of his Journals album. The 12-year-old project debuted on the chart dated April 25, 2026, marking a significant milestone in his career.
The surge in popularity coincides with Bieber's headline performances at the 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. He was the main act on both weekends—Saturday, April 11, and again on Saturday, April 18—with both sets livestreamed via YouTube, drawing massive attention to his catalog.
Journals entered the Billboard 200 at No. 111, earning nearly 13,000 equivalent album units in the United States for the tracking week ending April 16, according to Luminate. This figure reflects a 192% increase from the previous week’s numbers, showcasing the album’s newfound momentum.
The album was initially released exclusively on the iTunes Store on December 23, 2013. However, sales from iTunes were not reported to Luminate (previously Nielsen SoundScan), preventing Journals from charting at the time. Since then, the album has become widely available on all digital download and streaming platforms, as well as physical formats like CD and vinyl. The recent data marks the first week the album achieved enough activity to appear on the Billboard 200 in a single tracking period.
Alongside Journals, six other Bieber albums appeared on the chart simultaneously—his highest total ever. His latest album, SWAG, soared from No. 55 to No. 7 with 43,000 equivalent album units earned, up 160%. Other albums re-entering the chart include Purpose at No. 32 with 22,000 units (up 173%), Believe at No. 34 with 21,000 units (up 241%), My World 2.0 at No. 38 with 20,000 units (up 268%), Justice at No. 110 with 13,000 units (up 100%), and My World at No. 147 with 12,000 units (up 563%).
Previously, the most Bieber had on the Billboard 200 chart at once was four albums, last achieved in January 2012. Having seven albums chart reflects the substantial impact his Coachella performances and livestreams had on his music consumption.
The upcoming Billboard 200 chart issue dated May 1 will capture the continued effects from the second weekend of Coachella, as its tracking week runs from April 17 to 23. Fans and industry watchers alike will be keen to see if Bieber's catalog maintains its strong upward trajectory.
The Billboard 200 ranks the most popular albums in the United States each week based on multi-metric consumption measured in equivalent album units. These units combine album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). One unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold, or 2,500 ad-supported or 1,000 paid/subscription streams of songs from the album.
The full April 25, 2026, Billboard 200 chart will be available on Billboard’s website on April 21, providing a comprehensive view of the week’s top albums and highlighting Bieber's impressive chart presence following his high-profile festival appearances.
