Oasis's Rock Hall induction excludes key members. Why are original bassist Guigsy and longtime drummer Alan White not included with the Class of 2026?

AceShowbiz - When the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced the members of Oasis joining the Class of 2026, two key figures were notably missing: original bassist Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan and drummer Alan "Whitey" White.
Both musicians played critical roles during the years of Oasis. Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan was with the band from its inception in 1991 until 1999. Meanwhile, Alan "Whitey" White joined after the band's formation but contributed to four of their seven albums, including the 1995 release (What's the Story) Morning Glory, staying with the band until 2004.
The initial Rock Hall induction list included founding drummer Tony McCarroll, who played with the band from 1991 to 1995, but excluded Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan despite his longer tenure. As noted in a recent article addressing eight pressing questions about the 2026 Rock Hall class, the omission was seen as an oversight. The piece argued, "If Tony McCarroll is getting in for playing drums from 1991 to 1995, Guigsy should be inducted for playing bass from 1991 to 1999."
In response, a #JusticeForGuigsy campaign gained traction, pushing for his induction. Paul McGuigan is now officially listed as an inductee on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's website.
While there was no similar public campaign for Alan White, he too has been added to the official inductee roster. This correction acknowledges the contributions both musicians made to Oasis.
The revised listings ensure that the full lineup responsible for the band's success during the 1990s and early 2000s will be honored when the Class of 2026 is formally inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
