AceShowbiz - The release month for The Adventures of Cliff Booth, Netflix's sequel to Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, has been confirmed. According to a report from Deadline, the film is slated to arrive in August 2026.
The sequel will focus on Brad Pitt's character, Cliff Booth, with Pitt returning to the role. The script comes from Quentin Tarantino, while directing duties have been handed to David Fincher. The cast also features Timothy Olyphant, Scott Caan, Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Carla Gugino.
The revelation came within a broader Deadline report discussing the uncertainty surrounding Netflix's theatrical strategy. The Adventures of Cliff Booth was mentioned alongside Greta Gerwig's upcoming Narnia movie as major Netflix titles premiering later in 2026. The report noted that the Narnia film will have a two-week limited IMAX release beginning on November 26 across 90 countries before streaming in December. However, no similar theatrical plans have been announced yet for The Adventures of Cliff Booth.
At a recent Next on Netflix event, Film Chairman Dan Lin stated, "We're looking to do special things in theatrical, but just give us some time" and emphasized, "We are a streaming-first company. The strategy works really well for us."
Given this corporate situation, the report suggests the sequel is likely to remain exclusive to the streaming platform or only have a limited theatrical release. The article does note, however, that a different decision could be announced in the coming months.
Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood stands as one of Tarantino's highest-grossing movies, earning more than $370 million worldwide against a reported budget of $90 million.
