AceShowbiz - Major progress has been made on David Fincher's highly anticipated Netflix project. The Adventures of Cliff Booth has officially wrapped filming after nearly a year of production, bringing the Quentin Tarantino-penned follow-up to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood significantly closer to completion.
Jarred Land announced the milestone through an Instagram post, revealing that the final day of shooting took place on Thursday, January 15 at RSH Studios. "Final day of shooting Fincher and Tarantino's new film today," Land shared, accompanied by an image of an autographed slate featuring the signatures of the film's director, cinematographer, and writer.
Land expressed admiration for the production team, stating, "It's been such an honor to have such an incredible team living and breathing at our studio for the better part of the last year. Been a masterclass in absolutely everything." He also praised cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt's work, adding that the film is "gonna be a good one."
The Adventures of Cliff Booth sees Brad Pitt reprising his role as the enigmatic stuntman Cliff Booth, seven years after the original film's release. Joining him is Timothy Olyphant as James Stacy. Notably, Leonardo DiCaprio will not return, having reportedly declined the opportunity to make a cameo appearance.
The impressive ensemble cast includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany, and Peter Weller, though their specific roles remain undisclosed. Plot details are being kept strictly under wraps.
Tarantino initially discussed revisiting the Cliff Booth character shortly after Once Upon a Time in Hollywood's release, expressing interest in exploring Booth's experiences in a WW2 POW camp. However, the script he ultimately penned is reportedly set in the 1970s and focuses on Booth's work as a Hollywood fixer.
While Tarantino wrote the screenplay, he chose not to direct, citing his reluctance to repeat himself creatively. Pitt subsequently brought Fincher aboard to helm the project using Tarantino's script, with Netflix handling production.
The film carries a reported budget of approximately $200 million, making it the most expensive project of Fincher's career. The Adventures of Cliff Booth is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2026, though an official release date has not yet been announced.
