AceShowbiz - Trent Reznor, the frontman of Nine Inch Nails, recently addressed speculation about the band’s future touring activities during the conclusion of their Peel It Back Tour.
At a concert in Tulsa last month, Reznor made a remark that caught fans’ attention: he expressed uncertainty about whether the band would continue touring beyond that point. He said, "I don't know if we're going to be touring anymore after this, but I'm proud of the show we're doing right now." This comment sparked considerable discussion, prompting Reznor to clarify his intentions at the tour’s final stop in Sacramento on March 16.
During the Sacramento show, Reznor explained that his earlier comments were misunderstood and not meant to convey a definitive end to touring. He stated, "This is the last show on this tour and we don't have any shows booked, and we don't have any plans to book any shows any time in the future, so far. That doesn't mean we may not tour again. We may tour again. It won't be next month, it won't be this year. I never said we were intentionally stopping, and I never meant that."
The Peel It Back Tour began in 2023 and was Nine Inch Nails' first touring cycle since 2022. Onstage, Reznor revealed that the band took a break from live performances because he wasn’t sure if they could deliver a meaningful show or if their message still resonated. However, after assembling the current lineup and crew, he expressed pride in the quality of their performances throughout the tour.
Reznor emphasized that while there are no immediate plans to hit the road again, the band’s future live activity remains open-ended. More importantly, he confirmed that their focus is shifting toward new creative work. "What we're going to do is work on some new music, and make some new shit. And if we feel inspired, and if we feel we can beat this [tour] we'll see you again. And I hope to see you again."
The band’s last releases of all-original material were two albums in 2020, Ghosts V: Together and Ghosts VI: Locusts. In 2023, Nine Inch Nails also released the soundtrack for the film Tron: Ares, marking their most recent output.
As of now, fans can expect new music from Trent Reznor and his band, though the timing and details of any future tours remain uncertain.
