AceShowbiz - First-look images have been unveiled for the upcoming film, Fackham Hall, promising a delightful period romance parody with familiar faces from Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts. This developing story has intrigued fans eager for a fresh take on the beloved British period drama genre.
Headlining the cast are Tom Felton (known for Harry Potter's Draco Malfoy) and Katherine Waterston (from Fantastic Beasts). They are joined by a talented ensemble including Ben Radcliffe (The Witcher) and Thomasin McKenzie (Jojo Rabbit, Last Night in Soho). The plot of Fackham Hall follows Eric (Radcliffe), a manor porter, whose forbidden romance with Rose Davenport (McKenzie) is complicated by a murder mystery that makes him the prime suspect.
Debuted by Collider, the images offer a glimpse into the film's aesthetic and the characters portrayed by Felton and Waterston, among others. Waterston plays Lady Davenport, and Felton is Eric's rival for Rose's hand, adding a layer of comedic tension and dramatic rivalry to the unfolding events.
Directed by Jim O'Hanlon, the screenplay was co-written by comedian Jimmy Carr (who also stars) with Patrick Carr, Andrew Dawson, Steve Dawson, and Tim Inman. The movie is slated for a theatrical release in early December 2025. Its release follows the conclusion of the beloved Downton Abbey saga. While Julian Fellowes' The Gilded Age offers a serious successor to the period drama genre, Fackham Hall boldly embraces parody, aiming to satirize its tropes with wit and charm.
Director O'Hanlon shared his vision with Collider, highlighting the film's dual nature. "What I loved about the script was that it was both a hilariously funny, brilliantly inventive parody of British period dramas like Downton Abbey or Gosford Park, but also, at the same time, very much it’s own thing," he stated. O'Hanlon expressed finding himself "rooting for Rose and Eric, the young couple at the centre of the forbidden romance, but at the same time laughing out loud at the ludicrousness and craziness of the shenanigans going on around them." This unique blend of heartfelt romance and comedic absurdity positions Fackham Hall as a must-see for fans of both genres, promising an entertaining cinematic experience.
