AceShowbiz - Nicola Coughlan, known for her role in the hit series "Bridgerton", has taken a clear stance on LGBTQ+ rights. She doubled down on her support for the pride community while calling out "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling.
Rowling was celebrating after the UK Supreme Court backed the "biological" definition of woman, and this did not sit well with Coughlan. She blasted the author in a post titled "A New Low for JK Rowling." She additionally vowed to boycott the new "Harry Potter" show, "Keep your new Harry Potter lads. Wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole."
Coughlan's earlier comments on the ruling were sharp and uncompromising, "To see an already marginalised community being further attacked and attacked in law is really stomach churning and disgusting, and to see people celebrate it is more stomach-churning and disgusting."
J.K. Rowling's views on biological women also sparked strong opposition from the original "Harry Potter" cast like Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint.
Rowling's retort to the collective disapproval from the former cast members was playful and pointed. Responding to a post which asked, "What actor/actress instantly ruins a movie for you?" Rowling quipped, "Three guesses. Sorry, but that was irresistible," followed by three laughing emojis.
