Lionsgate has begun the production for 'Day Drinker,' spotlighting Johnny Depp as he looks almost unrecognizable in his highly anticipated return to Hollywood.

AceShowbiz - To mark the start of production on its new movie "Day Drinker", Lionsgate releases the first picture with its lead actor Johnny Depp front and center. The former "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor rocked grey hair and beard for his latest onscreen role.
Directed by Marc Webb ("Snow White"), the movie kicked off production in Spain and reunites Depp with Penelope Cruz for their fourth on-screen collaboration. The duo will be joined by "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery" star Madelyn Cline.
"Day Drinker" promises an intriguing narrative centered on a private-yacht bartender, played by Cline, who encounters a mysterious guest portrayed by Depp. The plot thickens as they become ensnared with a criminal figure, played by Cruz, unveiling connections that no one saw coming.
For Depp, "Day Drinker" marks a significant milestone, being his first major film since he denounced Hollywood after major studios like Disney ("Pirates of the Caribbean") and Warner Bros. ("Fantastic Beasts") cut ties with him amid his legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard. In 2023, he said there was "no further need for Hollywood."
Reflecting on his journey, Depp has since downplayed the notion of a "comeback," stating, "I didn't go anywhere... Maybe people stopped calling out of whatever their fear was at the time. But no, I didn't go nowhere. I've been sitting around."
