The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star and the 'Vanilla Sky' actress will reteam in the upcoming action thriller Day Drinker', marking their fourth collaboration together.

AceShowbiz - Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz are reuniting for "Day Drinker", a high-profile action thriller that will mark Depp's comeback attempt after a series of controversies. The film follows a cruise ship bartender who encounters a mysterious day drinker, leading them both into a dangerous criminal underworld. Marc Webb, known for "500 Days of Summer" and "The Amazing Spider-Man", will helm the project.
Lionsgate is launching international sales for "Day Drinker" at the American Film Market this week. Producers include Thunder Road's Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, Adam Kolbrenner and Zach Dean, who wrote the original screenplay. 30WEST will also executive produce.
Depp has been absent from major Hollywood projects following his messy divorce and legal battles with Amber Heard. However, "Day Drinker" marks his return to a high-profile role.
The film will be Cruz and Depp's fourth collaboration, after "Blow", "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" and "Murder on the Orient Express".
Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson praised the project, saying, " 'Day Drinker' combines a highly commercial concept with wildly outrageous twists and turns all set in an incredible world, and there is no better filmmaker than Marc or two more perfectly cast actors than Johnny and Penélope to bring that world to life."
Chelsea Kujawa is overseeing the project for Lionsgate. Dan Freedman negotiated the deals for the studio.
"Day Drinker" is the second collaboration between Lionsgate and 30WEST, who previously teamed for the music-themed comedy "Power Ballad".
