The sash that Charli XCX was wearing at the Coachella after-party struck a nerve with Green Day's fans following their headlining set at the Indio desert music festival.

AceShowbiz - Charli XCX, whose real name is Charlotte Aitchison, faced backlash following her performance at Coachella. The 32-year-old singer hit an afterparty shortly after her 7:15 pm set at the music festival, but it was her sash bearing the title, "Miss Should Be Headliner," that caught attention.

While Charli performed from the main stage on Saturday night, April 12 and brought out star-studded guests like Lorde, Billie Eilish, and Troye Sivan, Green Day was the headliner that evening along with Travis Scott (II).

Although the "Brat" singer didn't make any comment after taking the stage at the event, her wearing the sash was enough to show that she's not too pleased with being a side act to punk rock icon Billie Joe Armstrong and his bandmates.

However, Charli's sash hit a sour note with Green Day's fans, especially since the band's politically charged set where they altered lyrics to comment on the Israel-Palestine conflict and denounce former President Donald Trump. They argued that while Green Day used their platform to address pressing global issues, Charli's sash came off as insensitive and petulant.

"Green Day making a political statement about s**t that actually matters > pop girlies singing about coke," wrote one unimpressed fan on social media. Comments questioning Charli's popularity in comparison to Green Day's extensive and influential discography also flooded platforms like X.

Charli XCX's Coachella performance came on heels of her success with her 2024 hit album "Brat." Compared to her more recent and social media-fueled rise, Green Day has been in the industry for decades and remains a powerhouse with a legacy of multiple chart-topping albums, classic songs, and a total of nearly 500 weeks on the top 75 charts.
