Elisabeth Finch, a former 'Grey's Anatomy' writer, defends asking for donations for L.A. wildfire relief efforts after previously fabricating claims about cancer and other personal experiences.

AceShowbiz - Elisabeth Finch, once a revered writer for "Grey's Anatomy", has plunged into controversy again, this time for her dubious fundraising efforts for L.A. wildfire relief. But this scandal is just the latest in a series of deceptions that have rocked her career and personal life.

Earlier this month, Finch used her private Facebook page to solicit funds directly through her Venmo account, an attempt, she claimed, to "avoid GoFundMe fees." She posted, "This is just me. Boots on the ground. It was challenging enough getting dog food while evacuated and I was at a safe place… So this is for people who have virtually nothing and have pets with basic needs."

Actress Jamie Denbo, however, was quick to call out Finch. Sharing a screenshot of the request, Denbo cautioned potential donors, "This person is a SCAMMER and a LIAR. It is well documented in the Peacock series Anatomy of Lies."

"Unless you want to send her donations of 69 cents for her 'cancer treatment' (she doesn't have cancer) or perhaps 'in memory of her late brother' (he's alive) or anything else she has lied about (everything). DO NOT DONATE to Elisabeth Finch!!!"

In response to the backlash, Finch told The Hollywood Reporter, "I recognize, given my history, people might be skeptical of my fundraising efforts. I'm trying to make amends in as many ways I can, including helping my community - especially during these difficult times."

Finch explained that many organizations requested gift cards due to being overwhelmed with physical donations, and she feared pet needs could be overlooked.

Despite Finch's attempt at clarification, Denbo was unrelenting, telling The Hollywood Reporter, "Elisabeth continues to scam, deceive and produce incredible material for comedians like myself to use and mock her relentlessly... Keep it up, Finch!”

Finch's past is marred by deception. Vanity Fair's 2022 exposé unraveled several of her narratives, including her fabricated cancer diagnosis, fictitious involvement in post-2018 Pittsburgh shooting clean-up efforts, and alleged abuse by "The Vampire Diaries" director. Disney's investigation led Finch to admit to numerous falsehoods, except claims about childhood trauma involving her brother.

In a 2024 Instagram post following a Peacock docuseries on her, Finch expressed deep regret, "I've given no one any reason to believe a word I say... I lied about so much that so many people have been devastated by in real life. 'I'm sorry' feels like the smallest words compared to what I've done, yet they are the truest."

As Finch strives to rebuild her tarnished reputation, she noted, }I'm making amends and expressing my genuine remorse as best I can when people are ready. And I've accepted the fact that some may never be. I've been receiving mental health treatment for nearly three years, and I work hard every day to sustain a life where the truth matters more than anything."
