AceShowbiz - Snoop Dogg's "Missionary" album has debuted in the top 10 on three Billboard charts: Top Album Sales (No. 7), Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums (No. 7), and Top Rap Albums (No. 3). The album also landed at No. 20 on the overall Billboard 200 chart.
On Top Album Sales, "Missionary" marks Snoop's highest-charting album in over 15 years. It is the first collaboration between Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre since their groundbreaking debut album "Doggystyle" in 1993.
The Billboard Top Album Sales chart tracks album sales based solely on traditional album sales. It has been ranking albums since 1991.
"Missionary" sold 20,500 units in its first week, with streaming and track downloads contributing 16,500 and the remaining amount being physical album sales. The album sold 38,000 equivalent album units in total for the week ending Dec. 19.
Despite projections that "Missionary" will debut at No. 20 on the Billboard 200, Dr. Dre has praised the album's quality. He described it as one of the best efforts in his career and highlighted the maturity of Snoop's lyrics and his own musical contributions.
The album features collaborations with Eminem, 50 Cent, Method Man, Sting, Jelly Roll, Jhene Aiko, BJ The Chicago Kid and the late Tom Petty. It includes the notable track "Gunz N Smoke", which marks a historic collaboration between Snoop, Dre, Eminem and 50 Cent as a four-man unit.
