AceShowbiz - At the American Friends of Magen David Adom Miami gala, Liev Schreiber, 57, experienced a minor mishap when his phone vanished during his schmoozing session with fans and attendees. "I put my phone down on a table and it's gone," Schreiber revealed in a video. "It's probably the only iPhone in this place."
Ironically, another speaker had forgotten their license onstage before Schreiber's appearance. Schreiber playfully remarked, "I have your license. Find me later." Minutes into his speech, the "Ray Donovan" alum was interrupted by an individual who gave him his phone.
Schreiber's speech took a solemn turn as he read a heart-wrenching letter from one of the Magen David Adom members being honored, whose 11-year-old daughter had tragically passed away. "I tried to look away but I couldn't. The muscles in my neck wouldn't move. I begged a stranger to cover my daughter's face," Schreiber read, his voice choked with emotion.
The room was filled with tears, and Schreiber shared that he had struggled with the recent Israel-Hamas conflict. However, he found solace in a friend's quote, "There is nothing so whole as a broken heart."
In addition to Schreiber, Patricia Heaton voiced her support for Magen David Adom. Despite being a devout Catholic, Heaton felt a calling to defend Jewish people and their right to practice their faith without fear.
Heaton criticized Hollywood's response to the conflict, emphasizing the importance of facts and nuanced perspectives.
The AFMDA gala raised an impressive $4 million, including $1.76 million from auctions and a $1 million donation from an anonymous donor.
