AceShowbiz - Zayn Malik has paid tribute to Liam Payne onstage during his "Stairway to the Sky" tour. Stopping by the late singer's hometown of Wolverhampton on Friday, November 29, the "Pillowtalk" crooner spoke directly of his late One Direction bandmate for the first time since the funeral.
"I've been doing something at the end of the show every night, and it's being dedicated to my brother Liam Payne," Zayn said in a fan-taken video that has gone viral. "Rest in peace, I hope you're seeing this, we're in your hometown tonight, Wolverhampton, this is for you, Liam."
Zayn was referring to a tribute to Liam that he has incorporated into his "Stairway to the Sky" tour since it kicked off last week. On the first show, a blue screen message which read, "Liam Payne 1993-2024. Love you bro" with a pink heart appeared as the event concluded with Zayn's song "Stardust".
Fans were moved by Zayn's heartfelt tribute to his late pal. "My heart can't handle this," one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Zayn.. tears are even flowing from my nose," another added. A third reassured the singer, "He's seeing it Zayn."
Zayn previously issued a personal statement following Liam's tragic passing at the age of 31 in October. "Liam, I have found myself talking out loud to you, hoping you can hear me, I can't help but think selfishly that there was so many more conversations for us to have in our lives. I never got to thank you for supporting me through some of the most difficult times in my life," he wrote.
Zayn also postponed the U.S. leg of his "Stairway to the Sky" tour over the "heartbreaking loss" of Liam. The "Dusk Till Dawn" singer and other remaining One Direction members, including Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, later gathered to attend Liam's funeral on November 20 at Saint Mary's Church in Amersham, Buckinghamshire.
