According to Cuoco, "A couple of years ago, unfortunately, Blue and Shirley started getting into some mega fights. Shirley was determined to kill him."

After much deliberation and heartache, Cuoco made the difficult decision to rehome Shirley. "I loved her so much, but I was really scared," she confessed. The resolution was to have her pet handler Tony and his wife Angie take Shirley in. "They have loved her so, so much, and it was an excruciating decision," Cuoco revealed.

The poignant saga took another sorrowful turn when Shirley was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of bone cancer that appeared suddenly. Shirley lived a full life, almost reaching 14 years, which Cuoco acknowledged as remarkable for a dog.

"She was almost 14 years old, which is an unbelievable life for a dog," Cuoco said through tears in her Instagram video sharing this news. "And I just wanted to share her story and what we had to do."

Honoring Shirley's memory, Cuoco expressed profound gratitude to Tony and Angie for their care and love towards Shirley during her final years.
