Poorna Jagannathan, known for her roles in 'Never Have I Ever' and 'The Night Of', will have a recurring part in HBO's upcoming series 'Lanterns,' based on DC's 'Green Lantern' comics.

AceShowbiz - HBO's "Lanterns" has expanded its cast with the addition of Poorna Jagannathan, who will play Zoe, an effortlessly confident and composed woman in any setting. Jagannathan joins previously announced series leads Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre, who star as Hal Jordan and John Stewart, respectively.

Poorna's character is described as "effortlessly confident and poised in any setting, even those where she stands out. She is every bit as composed and cunning of the influential men around her."

"Lanterns" is based on DC's long-running "Green Lantern" comics, but unlike the galactic scope of the comics, the series will be a terrestrial story with a noirish vibe, focusing on an investigation into a murder in the American heartland.

Per the official logline, the show follows "new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland."

The showrunner for "Lanterns" is Chris Mundy ("Ozark"), who co-wrote the eight-episode season with Damon Lindelof ("Lost", "Watchmen") and Eisner Award-winning comics writer Tom King. They executive produce alongside James Hawes, who directed the first two episodes.

Jagannathan's previous credits include four seasons on Netflix's "Never Have I Ever", Apple TV+'s "Wolfs", HBO's "The Night Of" and Hulu and Onyx Collective's forthcoming series "Deli Boys".
