AceShowbiz - NSYNC members Lance Bass and Chris Kirkpatrick have expressed their disappointment over the extended break between the band's initial hiatus and their reunion at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. In the Paramount+ documentary "Larger Than Life: Reign of the Boybands", they discuss the frustrations and miscommunications that surrounded NSYNC's unexpected dissolution.

Bass recalled that the band was supposed to reunite after a six-month break following their 2002 tour. However, Justin Timberlake's decision to pursue a solo career delayed their plans indefinitely.

Kirkpatrick described the period as "hard," marked by animosity and resentment. Bass added that the group felt confused and uncertain about their future.

Timberlake's manager, Johnny Wright, explained that from Timberlake's perspective, it was difficult to ignore the success of his solo album, "Justified." He emphasized Timberlake's desire to fulfill the opportunities presented to him without necessarily intending to end NSYNC.

Bass acknowledged that he understood Timberlake's motivations but expressed that he wished there had been more open communication about the band's future. "Tell us that," he said.

Despite their frustrations, Bass and Kirkpatrick emphasized their support for Timberlake's solo venture. They also noted that Joey Fatone and JC Chasez embarked on their own solo projects.

The group's quiet dissolution left fans heartbroken, and it took over two decades for NSYNC to reunite officially. In recent years, they have performed together and released the single "Better Place" in conjunction with Timberlake's animated film "Trolls Band Together".

In January, Timberlake confirmed that NSYNC had been in the studio, hinting at the possibility of new music in the future.
