Famed director Quentin Tarantino shares his reasons for not seeing Denis Villeneuve's 'Dune' movies, expressing his reservations about Hollywood's remake obsession.

AceShowbiz - Despite critical acclaim, Quentin Tarantino has no plan to watch Denis Villeneuve's "Dune" adaptations. During an interview on "The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast," Tarantino explained that he has no interest in revisiting the "Dune" story, having already seen David Lynch's 1984 adaptation.

"I don't need to see that story again. I don't need to see spice worms. I don't need to see a movie that says the word 'spice' so dramatically," Tarantino said.

Tarantino's decision stems from his belief that Hollywood is overly focused on remakes and reboots. He cited the recent Netflix series "Ripley" and Hulu's "Shogun" as examples of unnecessary remakes.

"It's one after another of this remake and that remake," Tarantino said. "People ask 'Have you seen 'Dune'? Have you seen 'Ripley'? Have you seen 'Shōgun?' And I'm like: 'No, no, no, no.' "

Tarantino argued that if a story has been told multiple times, it's unlikely to offer anything new or interesting. He believes that filmmakers should focus on creating original content instead of repeating old tales.

"I saw 'Shōgun' in the '80s. I watched all 13 hours. I'm good. I don't need to see that story again, I don't care how they do it," Tarantino said.

Tarantino's comments have sparked debate among film enthusiasts, with many arguing that he's missing out on a great cinematic experience. Steven Spielberg, for one, called "Dune" one of the most brilliant science-fiction films he has ever seen.

However, Tarantino's perspective reflects a growing sentiment in the film industry that Hollywood should invest more time and resources in developing fresh and original stories.
