AceShowbiz - Beyonce Knowles made a surprise appearance at Vice President Kamala Harris' rally in Houston on Friday, October 25, delivering a passionate speech and officially endorsing Harris for president.
Beyonce, introduced by her mother Tina Knowles and accompanied on stage by her former Destiny's Child bandmate Kelly Rowland, spoke to the crowd about the importance of unity and reproductive rights.
"We're at the precipice of an enormous shift. I'm not here as a celebrity. I'm not here as a politician. I'm here as a mother, a mother who cares about the world our children live in, a world where we have the freedom to control our bodies, a world where we are not divided," Beyonce said.
She urged the crowd to vote and support Harris in her bid for the presidency. She stated, "Let's do this. Ladies and gentlemen, give a big, loud Texas welcome to the next president of the United States, Kamala Harris."
Harris, in her speech, focused on reproductive health care, emphasizing the importance of women's rights to make decisions about their own bodies.
Earlier in the evening, country music legend Willie Nelson performed his hit songs "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys" and "On the Road Again". Other notable attendees included Texas Senate candidate Colin Allred, Jessica Alba and local OBGYN Dr. Todd Ivy, who stressed the importance of reproductive health rights.
Beyonce's appearance comes after months of speculation about whether she would publicly endorse Harris. Her performance of "Freedom", which has become an anthem for Harris' campaign, further solidifies her support for the vice president.
Beyonce joins a growing list of celebrities who have rallied behind Harris, including Tony Goldwyn, Mindy Kaling, Kerry Washington, Pink, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Patti LaBelle, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Lopez, Ben Stiller, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep and Taylor Swift.
