AceShowbiz - During the 2024 BlumFest panel at New York Comic Con, producer-star Allison Williams and mega-producer Jason Blum offered fans an exciting preview of Blumhouse and Atomic Monster's highly anticipated sequel, "M3GAN 2.0". Williams shared that the film had just wrapped up filming and introduced a video message from M3GAN herself, in which the robot doll humorously declared, "Sadly, I couldn't be there because I'm slaying on set for my killer new film, 'M3GAN 2.0'. I've been upgraded. See you nerds in June."
Allison Williams emphasized that the sequel will be "bigger and more expansive" compared to the original. The first "M3GAN" movie, released in early 2023, became a viral sensation, setting high expectations for the sequel set to hit theaters on June 27, 2025. Alongside Williams, young actress Violet McGraw returns as her orphaned niece who befriends the high-tech doll turned lethal. "The original cast and filmmakers are back," confirmed Williams.
Blumhouse also teased an impressive slate for 2025, building up the excitement among horror and thriller enthusiasts. "Wolf Man", directed by Leigh Whannell ("The Invisible Man"), debuted its trailer at Comic Con, showcasing Christopher Abbott and Julia Garner in a modern twist on the classic monster tale. Whannell revealed that his take on "Wolf Man" explores the theme of disease, adding, "The idea of the 'Wolf Man' was attractive, the image of it is so embedded in people's minds."
Following closely is "The Woman in the Yard", directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, which tells the chilling story of a mysterious veiled woman terrorizing a rural family. Blum praised Collet-Serra for returning to a smaller-scale production after years of working on blockbuster films, saying, "He was really happy to be a singular - make a movie like an auteur."
The techno-thriller "Drop" featured a single mother receiving threatening AirDrop messages, forcing her to face terrifying decisions. Meghann Fahy stars in this nerve-wracking film that unfolds over a single night. Director Christopher Landon explained, "The movie touches on the idea that we live in an age where being harassed and attacked by someone you can't see is a part of everyone's lives."
Blumhouse also ventured into the video game sphere with "Fear the Spotlight", a retro-style horror game set at an abandoned high school, marking Blumhouse's first video game release. Set to bring the same DNA as its films to the gaming world, Blumhouse aims to captivate horror fans even further.
Lastly, Blumhouse provided updates on other exciting projects such as a sequel to "The Black Phone", another installment in the "Five Nights at Freddy's" series, and Mike Flanagan's new take on "The Exorcist". With such a robust slate of horror and thriller content, Blumhouse continues to solidify its reign in the genre and promises an electrifying 2025.
