AceShowbiz - Perrie Edwards has canceled her scheduled appearance on BBC Radio 1's "Live Lounge", initially set for Friday, October 17, in light of the tragic death of her fellow "X Factor" alum, Liam Payne. Edwards, who rose to fame with the girl group Little Mix, made this decision to honor Payne, who passed away on Wednesday, October 16, in Buenos Aires.
Radio 1 hosts Rickie Haywood-Williams, Melvin Odoom, and Charlie Hedges disclosed the news on their Thursday morning show. They shared, "We've just had some news on our show that because of the sad news of Liam Payne earlier we have heard that Perrie is not going to be in the Live Lounge tomorrow. She was supposed to be performing, but that's now not happening tomorrow; it will be happening at a later date."
Liam Payne, aged 31, fell from the third-floor balcony of the Casa Sur Palmero Hotel. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances of his fall, though reports have surfaced that he was acting erratically in the hotel's lobby shortly before the incident.
Emergency services were called to the scene, but despite their efforts, Payne's injuries were fatal. Alberto Crescenti, Buenos Aires emergency services chief, stated, "Based on what the team saw, there was apparently a cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death."
"The X Factor" reality show launched the careers of both Edwards and Payne. While One Direction and Little Mix appeared in consecutive seasons - One Direction in season 7 and Little Mix in season 8 - their paths crossed frequently. This included Edwards' past relationship with Payne's bandmate, Zayn Malik. This connection is part of why Edwards and many others in the entertainment industry are feeling the loss deeply.
Payne, who was in Argentina to attend a concert of his former bandmate Niall Horan, leaves behind his parents, two older sisters, and a seven-year-old son named Bear. His death has prompted an outpouring of grief from fans and celebrities alike. Tributes have flooded social media, with many remembering Payne not only for his musical talent but also for his impact on their lives.
Additionally, "Britain's Got Talent" also postponed its filming schedule due to the tragic news. Simon Cowell and other judges have yet to publicly comment, but a statement from Fremantle UK, the production company, confirmed the pause, expressing their condolences to Payne's friends, family, and fans.
As the music world mourns the loss of Liam Payne, Perrie Edwards' decision to cancel her performance resonates deeply with fans, reflecting the somber mood and respectful remembrance of the late singer's legacy.
