AceShowbiz - Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, expressed regret over accidentally colliding with his teammate, wide receiver Rashee Rice, during Sunday's win against the Los Angeles Chargers. Mahomes stated, "When I saw the replay, I felt like s***."
"I was worried about, hopefully, his injury and hopefully it wasn't as bad as it looked because I was the one that hit him," he told reporters after the game.
The incident occurred when Mahomes attempted a low tackle on Chargers cornerback Kristian Fulton following an interception. However, Mahomes collided with Rice's knee, causing Rice to go down in pain. The knee injury was initially feared to be a season-ending ACL tear, but the Chiefs placed Rice on injured reserve, keeping him out for at least four weeks.
Rice has been a key contributor for Mahomes in the passing game, leading the Chiefs in targets (29), receptions (24), and receiving yards (288). His absence will put more pressure on tight end Travis Kelce and rookie wideout Xavier Worthy as the Chiefs aim for a three-peat Super Bowl victory.
