AceShowbiz - Chet Hanks, the son of actors Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, has officially joined the country music scene. At the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, he exclusively revealed to The Post that he has signed with a country label and is recording an album.
"I'm telling you, when this s**t comes out, it is going to be crazy," Hanks declared, expressing confidence in his upcoming project.
Hanks' musical journey began during his appearance on "MTV's Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets," where he sang an original country song titled "Leaving Hollywood." His performance garnered praise from Fifth Harmony's Ally Brooke and "Teen Wolf" star Tyler Posey, who provided backup vocals and guitar accompaniment, respectively.
Hanks credits his mother, Rita Wilson, for his country music roots. Wilson has released several country albums, including "AM/FM," "Rita Wilson," "Bigger Picture," and "Halfway to Home."
In August, Hanks hinted at his country music aspirations by announcing his relocation to Nashville. "California is trash, I'm moving to Nashville," he wrote on Instagram. "Next time you see me on this thing I'll be ripping it through Dixie, jack!! #LeavingHollywood."
At the VMAs, Hanks continued his country-inspired theme by donning a leather ensemble reminiscent of a biker. He also called out the CMAs for snubbing Beyonce Knowles' "Cowboy Carter" album, saying, "You can never snub Beyonce."
Fans who enjoyed Hanks' performance on "Surreal Life" have taken to social media to urge him to pursue country music. Many have praised his vocals and believe he has a natural talent for the genre. With his confidence and his connections, Chet Hanks is poised to make a significant impact on the country music scene.
