AceShowbiz - Flavor Flav joined the U.S. Women's Water Polo Team to ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Monday, September 9. However, the rapper's excitement got the better of him when he accidentally lost control of the gavel and sent it flying into the crowd.
"They said it was good luck if I hit it hard," Flav captioned his Instagram post after the incident.
Fans took to social media to crack jokes about the mishap, with one person asking, "Is catching the gavel from Flav akin to catching the bouquet at a wedding?"
Despite the minor fumble, Flav was thrilled to experience the honor of ringing the closing bell at the NYSE, saying, "This means the world to me right now to be here at the Stock Exchange."
Flav's sponsorship deal with the U.S. Women's and Men's Water Polo Teams includes a $1,000 check to each player and a cruise voyage for the women's team.
The rapper has been busy in New York this week, attending the U.S. Open tennis championship and the NYSE event. He is also slated to appear at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday, September 11.
