AceShowbiz - Ezra Sosa, a member of the "Dancing with the Stars" (DWTS) troupe since 2021, will make history as the first Latin dance pro on the show in over a decade and the second gay pro. His celebrity partner will be revealed on "Good Morning America" on September 4 along with the rest of the cast.
"I'm still in disbelief," Sosa told GLAAD, who announced the news. "But I know when I meet my partner and step into the ballroom, it will all become real."
Sosa initially experienced imposter syndrome while on the troupe due to his closeted status. However, coming out to fellow troupe member JoJo Siwa helped him embrace his sexuality and become more comfortable with expressing himself.
"When I first met JoJo, she knew I was in the closet and gay but also saw my discomfort. She constantly put makeup on my face, which initially made me uncomfortable. But she gradually introduced these things into my life, and over time, I realized the power of being authentic," Sosa explained.
Sosa has already had a brief taste of professional dancing on "DWTS", filling in as Charity Lawson's partner for an episode when Artem Chigvintsev was unwell.
Sosa will join other pros, Derek Hough and Witney Carson, who were previously confirmed to return as pros for season 33. Meanwhile, Artem Chigvintsev has been sidelined following his domestic violence arrest.
So far, the only confirmed contestant for the upcoming season is Olympic medalist Stephen Nedoroscik while Hollywood's notorious con artist Anne Delvey is among the rumored ones.
"Dancing with the Stars" Season 33 premieres Tuesday, September 17, on ABC and Disney+.
