Josh Brolin, known for his iconic roles as Thanos and Cable in the MCU, has been offered to switch franchises by joining the DC Universe as Hal Jordan in the upcoming 'Lanterns' series.

AceShowbiz - There's been a whirlwind of speculation surrounding the casting of veteran Green Lantern Hal Jordan in the upcoming DCU "Lanterns" series. The latest buzz suggests that Josh Brolin, renowned for playing Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Cable in "Deadpool 2", has been offered the role.

According to Nexus Point News, which has a history of accurate DC scoops, while Brolin has been approached, he hasn't entered formal talks and might still decline.

If Brolin accepts the role, it wouldn't be his first foray into the world of DC. He previously played the titular character in the much-criticized "Jonah Hex" movie. As the DCU "Lanterns" series is gearing up to start production in early 2025, fans are eagerly awaiting any official confirmation.

Alongside Brolin's potential casting, there's also news that the show is seeking a Black actor between the ages of 27 and 35 for the role of John Stewart, the younger Green Lantern whom Jordan will mentor.

While the search for the cast is underway, the show's pilot script is in the capable hands of Damon Lindelof, the Emmy Award-winning creator of "Lost" and "Watchmen". He is collaborating with "Ozark" showrunner Chris Mundy and acclaimed comic book writer Tom King, with additional talent like Justin Britt-Gibson, Breannah Gibson, and Vanessa Baden Kelly rumored to be involved, though their participation remains unconfirmed.

Production on the Lanterns series is set in the United Kingdom, with hopes of a 2026 release. Interestingly, Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner is set to make an appearance, building on his debut in James Gunn's "Superman" reboot. Gunn described the series as "a story of a couple of Green Lanterns John Stewart and Hal Jordan" that will feel akin to "True Detective" - a terrestrial-based TV show focusing on space cops uncovering a mystery with significant implications for the DCU.

Previously, a different version of a "Green Lantern" TV series was in development under Greg Berlanti, featuring Finn Wittrock as Guy Gardner. However, this project was shelved when Gunn and Peter Safran took over as co-heads of DC Studios.

As the news circulates, the fandom is debating whether Brolin is the right choice for Hal Jordan. The potential star power of such a veteran actor could elevate the series to new heights, given his history of compelling performances in the superhero genre. What's your take? Is Brolin the Hal Jordan we've been waiting for?
