AceShowbiz - Apple TV+ has renewed the sci-fi thriller "Dark Matter" for a second season, less than two months after its first season finale. The news comes as the streamer continues to expand its lineup of science fiction series.
Starring Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly, the series follows Jason Dessen, a physicist and family man who is abducted into an alternate version of his life. As he attempts to return to his reality, he uncovers a labyrinthine landscape of alternate realities, encountering both hidden threats and complexities of his own existence.
Created, written and executive produced by Blake Crouch, the series also stars Alice Braga, Jimmi Simpson, Dayo Okeniyi and Oakes Fegley. Crouch expressed gratitude for the support of Apple TV+, Sony Pictures Television and the cast and crew, while teasing that "there's so much more story to tell."
Executive producer Matt Tolmach echoed Crouch's enthusiasm, adding that the series has resonated with audiences and that the team is eager to explore more of the show's multiverse in season 2.
"Dark Matter" is one of several sci-fi series on Apple TV+, including "For All Mankind", "Severance" and "Foundation". The streamer's head of programming, Matt Cherniss, praised the show's "thought-provoking and gripping" nature, noting that it has become a beloved part of Apple's sci-fi offerings.
Crouch, Tolmach, Edgerton and Jacquelyn Ben-Zekry serve as executive producers for the series.
