AceShowbiz - Nelly has returned to the stage. Just days after he was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and not having insurance, the "Hot In Herre" artist made a surprise appearance at Machine Gun Kelly's concert.
The show was part of the annual MGK Day celebration in Cleveland, Ohio. When the 49-year-old delivered "Grillz" and "Air Force Ones", MGK couldn't contain his excitement as he recorded his pal's performances.
"nelly just pulled up wtfff," MGK exclaimed in one video. Meanwhile on X, formerly Twitter, the "Bad Things" spitter gushed, "nelly just performed air force ones at our party wtffffffff," before adding in a follow-up post, "i should've worn my all whites and threw in the colored fat laces."
Nelly was taken into custody at a casino by the Maryland Heights Police Department on Wednesday morning, at around 4:45 A.M. local time. He was cited with possession of a controlled substance after officers allegedly found him with four ecstasy pills.
A spokesperson for the law agency confirmed that Nelly was arrested inside the Hollywood Casino in St. Charles, Mo., after they ran a background check and found an outstanding warrant for not having proof of insurance from a previous traffic stop. He was also hit with the driving without proof of insurance charge, but he has yet to be formally charged pending an investigation from state prosecutors. The MC was booked and later released from custody.
Following the arrest, Nelly's attorney blasted "overzealous" police, claiming that his client was "targeted." Scott Rosenblum, who represents the rap star, said in a statement, "After winning several jackpots, at a venue where Mr. Haynes frequently visits and entertains at its amphitheater; instead of just supervising the transfer of Mr. Haynes' winnings, this officer felt compelled to needlessly run a check for warrants."
"The officer informed Mr. Haynes a background check was mandated when a player won over a certain amount," Scott added, "Mr. Haynes knew this to be untrue as he had won several jackpots for similar or greater amounts including one just a week prior without incident or a background check."
The lawyer further alleged that the arresting officer "conducted a search without probable cause where he claimed to have found alleged 'ecstasy' in Mr. Haynes' personal property." He concluded, "I am 100 percent confident this case will go nowhere. And we will be asking for an inquiry into this officer's conduct."
