AceShowbiz - Nelly has resolved his legal case related to a July 2025 confrontation at the Ameristar Casino in St. Charles, Missouri. After nearly nine months of uncertainty, the St. Louis rapper exited a Missouri courtroom with the misdemeanor assault charge against him dismissed following a plea agreement reached on April 29, 2026.
The assault allegation originated from an incident involving a casino security guard who requested to see Nelly's player card before granting access to a restricted area. According to Nelly's representatives, the guard acted aggressively by physically blocking the rapper’s path and invading his personal space. They assert that Nelly only made minimal contact to guide the guard aside, and no injury occurred during the encounter.
Casino security footage captured the entire exchange, and the casino management later issued an apology for the guard’s conduct, welcoming Nelly back to the property. Despite this, the Missouri State Highway Patrol initially filed a report in July 2025 stating that Nelly had shoved the security officer, which led to prosecutors charging him with misdemeanor assault in September 2025.
In response to the charge, Nelly publicly denied the allegations through his legal team. According to TMZ, his attorneys worked diligently behind the scenes to settle the case without a trial. The resolution came in the form of a plea deal where Nelly accepted responsibility for a minor littering violation, paying a $750 fine. This agreement resulted in the complete removal of the assault charge from his record, sparing him from potential jail time and a criminal conviction.
This outcome marks a significant legal victory for Nelly, who maintained his innocence throughout the process. The conclusion of this case allows the rapper to move forward without the burden of the assault accusation related to the casino incident.
