AceShowbiz - Hunter Schafer has captivated audiences since her debut as Jules in HBO's hit series "Euphoria". However, her latest project, the film "Cuckoo", offers a refreshing change of pace from the often grueling atmosphere of her television breakout role. The contrast has been palpable and notably commented on by her co-star Dan Stevens.
"Her only experience prior to this was working on Euphoria, which is a very, very different experience, and by all accounts, not a terribly pleasant one," Dan told Vanity Fair. "I think it was refreshing and delightful for her to realize that not every job needs to be like Euphoria. It was nice to be able to present that and to be a part of that. We can still shoot this incredibly f**ked-up, difficult scene, but everybody's still friends at the end of the day and nobody needs to have months of therapy afterwards."
"Cuckoo" presented Schafer with a unique opportunity, not just as her first major film role, but as the leading actress. Dan Stevens expressed his excitement for Schafer, emphasizing the positive and energetic atmosphere on set which contrasted sharply with her previous experience.
"There's nothing more exciting than doing your first movie, especially the lead, at the dawn of a very, very exciting career," he said. "There was a real energy there. She's got a great attitude on and off set."
As for the future of "Euphoria", Schafer revealed to podcast host Alex Cooper that the direction of the upcoming third season is still shrouded in uncertainty.
"The real tea is I have no f**king idea what's going on, and you can ask literally all of the cast."
The tragic deaths of co-star Angus Cloud and producer Kevin Turen have undeniably left a deep impact on the "Euphoria" family, casting shadows on the series' future.
"I think everyone feels a certain sense of anticipation for if we are supposed to do Season 3," she says. "Obviously I'm still coming to qualms about what's happened and losing people that we really loved and were a part of this family and everything. If we do go back, that's going to be tough."
Schafer remains hopeful, envisioning a third season that could channel the raw emotions into something beautiful, despite the industry's complex landscape.
"I think there's a world in which we can channel that into making it a beautiful Season 3 if it is supposed to happen, but I think that s**t really threw everyone for a loop," Hunter added. "And then there's all these industry whatever political things that go into whether or not this is happening, but that's emotionally … a big part of what's happening, too."
Hunter Schafer's journey from the high-stakes world of Euphoria to her exciting new role in "Cuckoo" mirrors the experiences of many young talents finding their footing in Hollywood. Her story is a testament to resilience and the unexpected paths that lead to personal and professional growth.
