The 'Real Housewives of New York City' is about to get a fresh splash of authenticity and diversity with the addition of Racquel Chevremont, a queer art curator, joining the cast for its 15th season.

AceShowbiz - Bravo's hit reality TV franchise, "The Real Housewives of New York City" (RHONY), is stepping up its game in Season 15 with the introduction of Racquel Chevremont, a queer model and art curator.

Chevremont, who was recently announced as a full-time cast member, is poised to bring a newfound sense of diversity and representation to the show alongside existing cast members Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Dana Lichy, Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank, and Brynn Whitfield.

"It's exciting," Chevremont told GLAAD about joining the renowned series. "I honestly didn't think they would be interested in me in the end because they already had a queer woman. I wasn't sure if they were going to want two queer women on a franchise that has historically been about married heterosexual women. I think it was a bold decision and honestly a more authentic representation of NYC."

Chevremont's career has been marked by over 20 years in the art world, working as a curator for various institutions, collectors, and entertainment entities. Her role in "RHONY" is expected to not only highlight her professional achievements but also showcase her vibrant family life, including her fiancee Mel and her two children, Corey and Elle, who frequently appear on her Instagram.

Unlike her fellow cast member Jenna Lyons, Chevremont plans to share glimpses of her family on the show. "My entire adult life has been about representation and using whatever platform I have to get the voices of queer folks of the diaspora out there. What better way to do so if not as a member of this iconic franchise?" Chevremont reflected.

She emphasized the importance of visibility, especially in current times. "In the current world climate it's important for not only our community to see themselves represented but also for the world to get to know a queer family in a more intimate way and show that we all have more similarities than not; That queer women can be successful, beautiful and in loving relationships raising children too; That this world exists."

Chevremont's entry into RHONY aligns with Bravo's continuous efforts to embrace inclusivity. Bravo's move to cast not just one but two queer women, with Chevremont joining Lyons, signifies a broader, more authentic representation of New York City's diverse community.

GLAAD Senior Director of Communications Tony Morison praised the decision, stating, "It's exciting to see Racquel Chevremont, a highly successful Black queer model, art curator, mom and more, join the cast. Together with Jenna Lyons, Chevremont will undoubtedly bring a fresh perspective and new storytelling to one of the most-watched franchises on television, enhancing it to better reflect the vibrant and celebrated diversity of New York."

As fans await the new season, which is currently in production, they can look forward to a dynamic blend of drama, glamour, and authenticity that "RHONY" promises to deliver. The inclusion of Chevremont and the return of the full reboot cast from Season 14 are set to make Season 15 a groundbreaking chapter in the franchise's history.
