'Real Housewives of New York City' alum Bethenny Frankel unleashed a wave of criticism at the reboot, calling it a 'piece of trash' while advocating for the return of its former stars.

AceShowbiz - Bethenny Frankel, former star of "The Real Housewives of New York City" (RHONY), has not minced words regarding her opinion on the reboot of the beloved reality show. In a now-deleted TikTok video, Frankel referred to the new series as a "piece of trash."

"That show was on their back and all of a sudden they all got replaced [with] shiny new toys," Frankel, 54, remarked, underscoring her disappointment with Bravo's decision to revamp the show with a new cast. The former stars, Sonja Morgan, Dorinda Medley, Luann de Lesseps, and Ramona Singer, were thoroughly appreciated by Frankel for their commitment and impact on "RHONY" over the years.

In her TikTok takedown, Frankel highlighted that the previous "RHONY" cast were often treated "like the stepchildren" and were ditched as they aged. "That show was on their back, and all of a sudden they all got replaced with shiny new toys," she said.

According to her, the new cast members, which include Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank, Brynn Whitfield, Sai De Silva, Erin Lichy, and Ubah Hassan, lack the authenticity and connection that the original members brought to the show. She demanded "justice for Ramona, Luann, Sonja & Dorinda who they left for dead in a failed attempt to upgrade to first class…"

"I know a lot more money was spent on the new cast and the new show," Frankel claimed, adding that the old cast was underpaid and often discarded despite their contributions. Frankel, who was a prominent cast member on "RHONY" from seasons 1 to 3 and seasons 7 through 11, urged Bravo to reintegrate some of the original members back into the fold to revive waning viewership.

"You got like 200,000 viewers watching this piece of trash. So, go get the old girls and dust them off and mix them in," Frankel suggested, insisting that the reboot has failed to capture the essence that made the original show a hit. Her suggestion also came with a fair warning, "Humble pie is coming in hot."

It's no secret that Frankel has been a vocal critic of reality television's practices, particularly in how it compensates its stars. She has openly campaigned for reality stars to receive residuals similar to actors and writers, calling out the industry for exploiting its talent. Meanwhile, "RHONY" fifteenth season continues to air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo, though the impact of Frankel's critique on its future remains to be seen.

The "Real Housewives" original, who helped launch the series in 2008, still commands significant influence and awareness within the Bravo fan community. Whether Bravo heeds her advice and brings back the familiar faces remains a developing story in the world of reality TV.
