The 'Fall Guy' actor reveals he and his longtime partner thought 'it was going to be huge' when their daughters saw the actress starring in an episode of the ABC Kids animated series.

AceShowbiz - Hollywood might be an industry that dazzles the world, but for the children of movie stars like Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes, it's just business as usual. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Gosling, while promoting his new film "The Fall Guy", opened up about his daughters' lackluster response to their parents' stardom. Gosling shares two daughters, Esmeralda, nine, and Amada, eight, with his longtime partner, Mendes.
Back in 2021, Eva Mendes lent her voice to a yoga instructor in an episode of the popular ABC Kids animated series, "Bluey". Considering "Bluey" holds a special place in their household, both parents anticipated their kids would be thrilled. However, Gosling recounted, "Eva was on an episode of 'Bluey'. We both thought it was going to be huge. They didn't like it. They were like, 'Fast-forward through that part!' "
Moreover, Gosling's desire to dive deep into his roles doesn't necessarily impress his daughters either. While preparing for his performance in "The Fall Guy", a film directed by David Leitch that features plentiful stunts, Gosling had ambitious plans to perform many of his own stunts. That was until his kids chimed in with strong opinions. "My kids didn't want me to be set on fire," said Gosling. "They were like, 'No. No fire.' So I didn't do it."
Interestingly, this is not an isolated case. Fellow Hollywood stars Matt Damon and Emily Blunt have shared similar experiences. Damon once revealed on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" that his teenage daughter tends to watch only the movies where he received poor reviews. Blunt, who stars alongside Gosling in "The Fall Guy", noted that her daughters, Hazel and Violet, react similarly. They've only seen "Jungle Cruise" once, and it distressed them to see their mother trapped in underwater scenes.
Ultimately, for these Hollywood children, their parents' jobs are simply that-a job. While the glitz and glamour might enchant audiences worldwide, these kids see their parents chiefly as "mom" and "dad." Gosling shared that he and Mendes always consider their family first when choosing roles. "[We] make decisions with our family in mind first," he told WSJ Magazine.
Whether these kids will eventually appreciate their parents' filmography remains to be seen. But for now, Hollywood's charm does little to captivate those growing up right in its epicenter.
