AceShowbiz - Cash Cobain, the rising hip-hop sensation, has become a subject of controversy amidst the ongoing feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. A reference track for Drake's "Calling for You" has emerged online, featuring Cobain rapping the lead vocals. Although Cobain was listed as a co-producer on the official track, the leak raises questions about his potential role in the song's composition.
Cobain has vehemently denied allegations of ghostwriting for Drake, claiming them to be "fake news" and "cap." He insists that he only writes for himself, while acknowledging the business aspect of writing for others. However, Cobain recognizes the difference between writing for pop or R&B artists versus rappers.
Concurrent with the leak, Drake has faced renewed scrutiny regarding his ghostwriting practices. Over a decade ago, a reference track for "10 Bands" surfaced with Quentin Miller's vocals, sparking allegations that Drake relied heavily on writers. Drake's response at the time was that he sometimes sought ideas from others to inspire his own songwriting.
However, the ghostwriting rumors have persisted, with Rick Ross recently insinuating Drake's involvement in writing Drake's verse on "Sicko Mode" and even his social media comments. Drake dismissed these allegations, stating he uses writers only when necessary.
The ongoing feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar has further fueled the ghostwriting debate. Kendrick's recent diss track, "Not Like Us", contains lyrics allegedly derived from tweets by fans months prior to the song's release. On Drake's parody diss track "Buried Alive, Pt. 2, Interlude", he accuses Kendrick of using Twitter to elicit responses.
