Years after the iconic series' last season, the actor expresses openness to revisiting his role as FBI agent Fox Mulder in a potential reboot from director Ryan Coogler.

AceShowbiz - Six years after the return of "The X-Files" for its 11th season and over three decades since its original debut, David Duchovny has hinted that a return to the beloved role of Mulder is not out of the question. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Duchovny stated that while he doesn't actively think about the series, he still holds it dear and is open to exploring what's possible.

"I don't wake up and wonder, 'Where is the X-Files stock today?' But I love that show," Duchovny said. "I don't know what my character would be like at my age. It's an interesting question. That show can address the present as well as it addressed the '90s. It just depends on Chris [Carter] or the other writers. I'm always like, 'Hey, let's see.' "

Duchovny's co-star Gillian Anderson has also hinted at the possibility of returning to her role as Dana Scully. While she has previously been hesitant to revisit the series, Anderson has expressed her admiration for "Black Panther" director Ryan Coogler, who is currently developing a reboot of "The X-Files".

"I cannot think of a better way around for a reboot to happen," Anderson said. "I think he's a bit of a genius."

While details about the reboot are scarce, it is reportedly being developed as a new take on the classic series. Original creator Chris Carter has expressed his interest in seeing Coogler's vision for the show.

"It's interesting, people say, 'Aren't you possessive of it?' And I say, 'No, I'm looking forward to seeing what somebody else does with it,' " Carter said.
