The 'Gossip Girl' alum and author Colleen Hoover express confidence that the upcoming film adaptation of the beloved novel 'It Ends With Us' will resonate with both book lovers and moviegoers.

AceShowbiz - Blake Lively, who stars as Lily Bloom in the upcoming film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's bestselling novel "It Ends With Us", has expressed her confidence that the movie will satisfy both book lovers and moviegoers.

"Some people will always like a book better than a movie and some people like a movie better than the book, but I think that we just did our best to honor the book and honor the fans, and, I think, really make something that works even by itself," Lively said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Lively emphasized that the film can stand alone without prior knowledge of the book. "If you don't know the book, the movie works. I don't think there's any way that if you read the book and you saw the movie that you wouldn't be thrilled. We really worked hard on that," she said.

Hoover agreed, stating, "Readers tend to always want to read the book first, but I feel like this adaptation has stayed so true to the book that it's actually either or, whatever you prefer. I think you'll be happy if you watch the movie and then go into the book or vice versa."

The film tells the story of Lily Bloom, who overcomes a traumatic childhood to embark on a new chapter in her life. She falls in love with neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (played by Justin Baldoni), but their relationship becomes troubled due to his abusive behavior.

Lively noted the importance of connecting with the dedicated fans of Hoover's work. "Colleen, she has such a dedicated fan base... This story resonated with so many people, so there's a great responsibility that comes with that," she said.

"I'm just so proud of this film," Lively added. "I'm just so proud to be here and sharing it with Colleen and the fans. It's just really special. It was a great honor to take on Lily, and I'm so proud."

"It Ends With Us" is set to hit theaters on August 9.
