AceShowbiz - Nicola Coughlan has opened up about "trolls" who assumed that her body was heavily edited on "Bridgerton". While talking about the matter, the actress portraying Penelope Featherington on the Netflix series responded to the speculation.

In a new interview published on Wednesday, June 12, the 37-year-old Irish actress unveiled that social media users had a false speculation about her waist being "photoshopped" due to the show's Regency-inspired outfits. Speaking to PEOPLE, she said, "I saw some trolls. They were like, 'They photoshopped your waist.' "

About her response, Nicola stated, "And I was like, 'No, they did not.' " The actress, who starred on "Derry Girls" as Clare Devlin, went on to explain, "I think if you wear corsetry for long enough, your body really molds to it."

Nicola further elaborated, "Sometimes they come in a fitting for a fashion designer and they put a corset on me and I'm like, 'Oh, you can go tight,' and they go, 'What do you mean?' I'm like, 'My body now will go whew.' "

During the chat with the media outlet, Nicola appeared to have been joined by her "Bridgerton" co-star Luke Newton. In the interview, the actor, who plays Colin Bridgerton on the series, hinted that he has nothing to complain about the men's costumes that he had to wear while filming.

Luke told the outlet, "I don't wear a corset, I don't wear heels, but it really does change your posture, which feels good and it really helps with the character," while making a reference to his character's waistcoats. The 31-year-old English actor additionally shared, "But then as soon as I'm off set, I want to be in the most comfortable outfit."

In the season 3 of the series, Nicole flaunts her figure in plenty of waist-whittling dresses. Seemingly getting used to sporting corsets, she opted to wear multiple modern interpretations of corsets when she promoted the latest season of the show.
