AceShowbiz - In early 2021, during preparations for an elective breast reduction surgery, 59-year-old Linda Perry discovered she was facing a formidable enemy, triple-negative breast cancer. This aggressive form of cancer "tends to grow and spread faster" than other types, according to the American Cancer Society and carries a worse prognosis with fewer treatment options. Perry's battle with cancer became a focal point in her new documentary, "Linda Perry: Let It Die Here", which premiered at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival.

Perry revealed in an interview with People magazine, "I feel so lucky because there's so many women that don't get that opportunity." She credits the elective surgery with saving her life, noting that her cancer could have gone unnoticed due to the immense stress she was under while caring for her ill mother.

"My doctor basically said the cancer that I had was the kind that she finds in people where they have six months to maybe two years to live," Perry explained. "And I would've never found it, and I would've never done anything about it when I started feeling off, because I would've thought it was because of my mom and the stressful situation I was under."

Perry opted for a double mastectomy, describing the decision as a "no-brainer." Despite the overwhelming nature of her diagnosis, she chose to keep the cameras rolling, capturing her real-time response to this life-altering revelation. "The hammer was on me, and this happened in real time. I remember calling Don Hardy and going, 'You're not going to believe this,' " she said. "And he's like, 'Well, do you want to talk about it?' And I'm like, 'Well, we're in it. Let's just do it.'
