AceShowbiz - Kevin Jonas has just undergone a surgery to remove skin cancer. The eldest member of the Jonas Brothers has taken to social media to reveal that he recently underwent a procedure to remove a cancerous spot on his face.
On Tuesday, June 11, the 36-year-old shared on his Instagram page a video of him getting ready for the surgery. "So today I am getting a basal-cell carcinoma removed from my head," he said while filming himself in what looks like a hospital or a doctor's office.
Moving the camera to show a mole at the top of his forehead, the father of two continued, "Yes, that is an actual little skin cancer guy that has started to grow. And now I have to get surgery to remove it, so here we go."
Kevin returned in the video following the surgery with a bandage on his forehead. He lifted the gauze to tease the incision, but covered the wound with a surprised face emoji to avoid graphic image from the operation.
The procedure appeared to be quick as Kevin was able to go home shortly after. "Alright, I'm all done," he said while in the car. "Now it's time to heal. Heading home."
"Make sure to get those moles checked people," the "Camp Rock" star said at the end of the video. He reiterated the message in the caption as writing, "Friendly reminder to get your moles checked."
Following Kevin's revelation, many of his followers expressed relief that he caught the skin cancer early. "You just scared us a bunch!!! Happy to know you're recovering, i love you so much and wish you a lot of health!" one person reacted to the news.
Another left a comment that read, "Feel better Kevin, I'm grateful that you're well." A third wrote, "Glad you caught it! Hopefully a speedy recovery!" and a fourth echoed the sentiment as saying, "So happy you had this checked!"
Kevin underwent the surgery after he and his brothers, Joe Jonas and Nick Jonas, postponed the European leg of their tour in April.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, basal cell carcinoma is a common type of skin cancer that is usually caused by sun exposure and causes a bump or lesion to form on the epidermis. Hugh Jackman and Christine Brinkley are among other celebrities who have dealt with similar issues.
