AceShowbiz - Shannon Beador, star of "The Real Housewives of Orange County", is navigating a lawsuit filed by her ex-boyfriend, John Janssen. Janssen filed the lawsuit in March 2023, alleging breach of oral contract and promissory fraud, claiming that Beador failed to repay him $75,000.
During an appearance on "SiriusXM's Jeff Lewis Live", Beador revealed that she offered to pay Janssen the full amount he requested, but he declined due to her refusal to sign a non-disparagement agreement. Beador stated that such agreements are standard in settlements and prevent parties from speaking negatively about each other.
The Bravo personality explained that Janssen gave her money on two occasions during their relationship, but there was never an official agreement. She also claimed that she paid for expenses such as hotels and airfare, which she believes offsets the amount she allegedly owes him.
The lawsuit also alleges that Janssen lent Beador $40,000 for a plastic surgery procedure in January 2022 via wire transfer and an additional $35,000 by personal check. Beador admitted that the second payment was intended for a facelift.
Beador expressed frustration over the lawsuit, stating that her hands are tied due to her attorney's advice. She said, "What am I supposed to do? Say, 'Here's all this money that you claim that I owe you and go ahead. Say whatever you want about me. No.' "
Beador's attorney advised her not to pay Janssen without a non-disparagement agreement, leading to her decision to proceed with a trial.
The lawsuit has garnered attention due to Janssen's current relationship with Alexis Bellino, who will be returning as a "friend" on the upcoming season of "The Real Housewives of Orange County". Beador has previously expressed hurt over Janssen's relationship with Bellino, who was involved in a lawsuit with Beador's ex-husband, Jim Bellino.
Despite the ongoing legal battle, Beador emphasized her desire to move forward with her life. "I want to move forward with my life," she said. "I don't want to think about John Janssen anymore. I am in a really good place mentally and I want to keep going forward, not backward."
