The 'Act Right' rapper's mother was reportedly present in the car with her other son when Anthony 'Big Jook' Mims was being gunned down after attending his uncle's funeral.

AceShowbiz - Yo Gotti's mom was allegedly one of the witnesses who saw the shooting that killed her son Anthony "Big Jook" Mims. In fact, Geraldine Mims was almost killed in the incident, according to a new report.

A person with alleged knowledge of the situation hopped on social media on Sunday, January 14 to share new details of the shooting. According to the person, Yo Gotti's mom was in the car with her son Big Jook just before he was shot and killed.

"They almost killed Yo Gotti's momma. I want y'all to know that part," the person said in a video, which has circulated online. The person went on claiming, "When they got to shooting and dude ran up and started busting everything like that and getting Big Jook, Yo Gotti's momma opened up the door and ran away."

Big Jook was fatally shot shortly after he and his brother attended the funeral of a loved one named Eric Eugene Bovan on Saturday, January 13. An officer was in the area of 6385 Winchester Road when he heard multiple gunshots at around 4:15 P.M.

When the officer arrived, he found two victims with multiple gunshot wounds. Big Jook died after being rushed to St. Francis Hospital, while the second male victim is in stable condition.

A witness on the scene advised suspects in a white SUV were responsible for the shooting. The image of the suspect vehicle was captured on surveillance video. The vehicle is described as a white Ford Explorer with black wheels and dark-tinted windows, but no arrests have been made.

Police believe that Big Jook and the second victim were the intended targets. "Right now, we do have video that we are analyzing, but we don't have a clear suspect identified at this time," said MPD Deputy Chief Paul Wright Jr. in a press conference hours after the shooting. "But we know that a weapon was used, a firearm was used in this incident."

Responding to online speculation that Big Jook's death had any connection to the 2021 death of fellow Memphis rapper Young Dolph, Gotti's former music rival, the chief said, "This is preliminary, so we haven't developed a connection to that at this time. We do feel like the individual that was shot was possibly targeted by the suspect."

Yo Gotti has not publicly addressed his brother's passing.
