AceShowbiz - ABC has introduced the first leading man of "The Golden Bachelor". In the Monday, July 17 episode of "Good Morning America", the network announced Gerry Turner as its first-ever "The Golden Bachelor" star.

"It's never too late to fall in love again," the 71-year-old Indiana father of two and retired restaurateur said on the talk show. "Don't give up, there's always possibilities."

In addition to several photos and a new poster, ABC explains in Gerry's full bio, "A retired restaurateur and doting father and grandfather, Gerry [GAIR-ee] Turner lives in his dream house on a beautiful lake in Indiana. He's often busy hosting barbecues, playing pickleball, cheering on his favorite Chicago sports teams, four-wheeling, and spending time with friends and family at restaurants and local haunts."

"Always a romantic, Turner married his high school sweetheart, Toni, in 1974. Together, they lived a full and happy life with their two daughters, Angie and Jenny, and later two granddaughters, Charlee and Payton. Sadly, after their 43 years together, Toni suddenly fell ill and passed away in 2017," the bio went on to read. "Six years after Toni's passing and with the support of his family, Turner is ready to put himself out there and find a love that will stand the test of time in his golden years."

The retired restaurateur, who likes to host barbecues, play pickleball and cheer on his favorite Chicago sports teams, also received support from his daughters, who signed him up for the show. Gerry revealed on "GMA" that he's lived his life by the motto "don't give up - there's always possibilities."

He also believes that his late wife, Toni, would approve of his decision to be the first-ever Golden Bachelor. He said, "We always told each other, when one of us goes, we want the other one to be happy. She's up there rooting [for me]."

The latest "The Bachelor" spin-off franchise is set to showcase a "whole new kind of love story - one for the golden years." According to ABC's synopsis, Gerry is said to be a "hopeless romantic" who "is given a second chance at love in the search for a partner with whom to share the sunset years of life." The network also described him as a "charming 71-year-old patriarch," who will show that love stories "only get better with age."

"The Golden Bachelor" has yet to reveal the ladies vying for Gerry's heart.
