The 'GOOBA' spitter rips Billboard over the recent rule change, making use of her social media account to claim that Billboard will do everything to make him not win.

AceShowbiz - Tekashi69 a.k.a. 6ix9ine is beyond upset over Billboard's decision to reinstate merch album sales. The "FEFE" rapper took to social media to rip the recent rule change, insinuating that Billboard will do everything to make him not win.
"I'm the reason you guys got rid of this rule," so the "GOOBA" spitter wrote on Instagram Stories on Thursday, May 4. "You guys did everything and ANYTHING just not to see me win BRINGIN IT BACK BECAUSE YALL ARTIST CANT SELL WITHOUT IT."
He doubled down on the statement in an Instagram comment. "The rule got changed in June/July of 2020. I sold over 3,000,000 dollars of bulged merch for gooba. The [Nicki Minaj] and [Travis Scott (II)] thing was in 2018 for queen because I promoted it," the emcee explained. "The industry changed rules and laws just to basketball an artist that's how I know I'm really him. Get mad all you want but this is facts."
For those who need a refresher, 6ix9ine's single "GOOBA", which was off his sophomore album "Tattletales", debuted at No. 3 back in May 2020. Not happy with the results, he accused Billboard of screwing with his numbers as he claimed that he sold 3 million in merch alone.
Additionally, he alleged that Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, who released their collaborative track "Stuck With U" in the same month, made their teams buy their own releases to cheat the system. Billboard as well as representatives for Ariana and Justin denied the accusations.
In response to 6ix9ine's new statements, some Internet users expressed agreement with him. "I'm literally shocked to this day that Gooba didn't go number 1," one fan wrote. "He's right tho, billboard losing credibility," one other said, while another comment read, "He ain't lying tho hate him if you want but he's a marketing GENIUS."
However, one person thought 6ix9ine was partially correct. "he not wrong but dey didn't change the rule for him it's bigger artists like Nicki Minaj, Bad Bunny, Bieber, Travis etc," the user noted. Another, meanwhile, urged the rapper to just "focus on making good music that he enjoys,I hate when rappers are so focused on numbers over the quality of their music."
Billboard announced the new change of the rule on Thursday. Starting from June 30, Billboard will count limited fans packs/merch bundles with physical albums towards the Billboard 200 chart.
