Previously, the 'Good Days' hitmaker sparked debate among her fans whether her new album's cover art was inspired by Lady Di's final holiday photo in 1997.

AceShowbiz - SZA has finally reacted to fan theory that her new album cover was inspired by Princess Diana's final holiday photo. In a new interview, the "Good Days" hitmaker confessed that Lady Di inspired the cover art of her new effort, "S.O.S.".

During a chat with Hot 97, the R&B star was asked by host Nessa about the cover art's inspiration. "It's so serene, you're on this diving board in the middle of the ocean and I know different people like on social media, they said it could possibly be an inspiration from a photo of Princess Diana," said host Nessa. In response, the 33-year-old songstress quickly answered, "Yeah, it was."

SZA continued to offer more details, "Originally I was supposed to be on top of like a shipping barge but in the references that I pulled for that, I pulled the Diana reference because I just loved how isolated she felt and that was what I wanted to convey the most." She added, "It turned out cool and I wasn't sure it was going to be really cool until, like, right now."

Elsewhere during the conversation, SZA also talked about the real meaning behind the title of her new album "S.O.S." The "Shirt" songstress shared, "It's like saving our souls." She added that she feels her album "acts like self-savior."

SZA first unveiled the cover art on November 30. She posed up on the edge of a diving board while above the sea in an eerie recreation of the late Royal gazing out on a luxury yacht just one week before her death in 1997.

SZA was dressed in a loose hockey jersey, with the words "SZA" and "S.O.S" written on it. The "Love Galore" singer completed her look with tan work boots and high white socks at the end of her bare legs.

Earlier this week, SZA revealed the record's tracklist. The album, which is scheduled to release on Friday, December 9, consists of 23 songs and has guest appearances from Phoebe Bridgers, Don Toliver, her past collaborator Travis Scott (II) and the late Wu-Tang Clan rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard.

Prior to the release, Chart Data reported that the highly-anticipated follow-up to 2017's "Ctrl" has already sold over 500,000 units in the United States. "@sza's 'SOS' has already sold over 500,000 units in the US prior to release," Chart Data tweeted on December 5, noting that the album's success follows the inclusion of "Good Days", "I Hate U" and "Shirt".
