The host of 'The Drew Barrymore Show' issues a public apology after catching the heat for 'making light' of the ongoing defamation trial between the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actor and his ex-wife.

AceShowbiz - Drew Barrymore is showing remorse after making some offensive comments. "The Drew Barrymore Show" host has issued a public apology for calling the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial "a seven-layer dip of insanity."

Making use of her Instagram page on Monday, April 2, the 47-year-old TV hostess shared a video of her regretting her insensitive remarks. "It has come to my attention that I have offended people with making light of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, and for that I just want to deeply apologize and appreciate everyone who spoke out," she began.

Drew then called the incident a "teachable moment." She added that her comments, which made her face heavy backlash online, taught her how she moves forward and how she conducts herself.

"I can be a more thoughtful and better person moving forward, because all I want to do is be a good person," Drew continued. She went on saying, "And I very much appreciate the depth of this, and I will grow and change from it. And I thank everyone for helping me grow along the way and teaching me."

Drew landed in hot water after she made comments about Johnny and Amber's defamation trial during the Friday, April 29 episode of "The Drew Barrymore Show". At the time, the "Charlie's Angels" actress said with a smirk on her face, "It's, like, one layer of crazy. it's a seven-layer dip of insanity," causing the audience to burst into laughter.

Later, guest Anthony Anderson added, "It's truly amazing just to sit back and read the transcripts of what they've done to each other!" Drew then said she catches up on the trial every night and asked, "How about the burnt body? And why the Honda Civic?" referencing a text message the "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" actor sent to his friend about how he hoped Amber's "rotting corpse was decomposing in the f**king trunk of a Honda Civic."

Drew then called the trial "so fascinating." She went on to conclude, "I know these are two people's real lives and I know what it's like to have your life put out in public. I understand all the feelings, but they are actually offering up this information."

Shortly after, many of Johnny's fans flooded Drew's Instagram account with the hashtag #JusticeforJohnnyDepp. One person commented, "Stop making fun of victims of domestic violence."

"Drew Barrymore making jokes about Johnny Depp, then people wonder why men don't speak out about abuse, people make it a joke……at least Barrymore is getting backlash," another person opined. Another agreed, "Very disappointed in @DrewBarrymore given her past with substances and knowing Johnny Depp." A fourth chimed in, "I wish she would have given the same respect to this issue as she did when [Evan Rachel Wood] was on her show. Does she only have that consideration with women who claim DV?"
